FGA supports a universal work requirement across all four major welfare programs—food stamps, Medicaid, housing, and TANF. Work is the best way to improve lives and regain independence.
Stopping Welfare Expansion Efforts
Welfare expansion efforts by the federal government and many states are keeping able-bodied adults out of the workforce, making the worker shortage even worse by paying people to stay home. These plans should be rejected.
Eliminating Long-Term Dependency
Perpetual government dependency is a trap that robs individuals of taking part in the American Dream. To preserve resources for the truly needy and encourage productivity, for example, states can assign able-bodied adults on food stamps to employment and training (E&T) programs and implement other commonsense reforms.
